چکیده

We now want to apply linear response theory in a very specific way to probLecture 5 10/6/09 continued from N8 lems in equilibrium statistical mechanics. We imagine that we have an system that is in thermodynamic equilibrium at a specific temperature. We assume that it can be described by a canonical ensemble, in the sense that the measured values of properties are equal to the appropriate averages over a canonical distribution function.

Time-Dependent Statistical Mechanics 10. Classical theory of chemical kinetics

One of the most recent applications of classical linear response theory is to Lecture 7 10/13/09 the theory of chemical reaction rate constants, although this is one of the more important and interesting applications of time dependent statistical mechanics, from a chemistry point of view. At first glance it looks like an unusual and unphysical way of constructing a theory, but in fact it is valid.

Statistical mechanics of quantum-classical systems with holonomic constraints.

The statistical mechanics of quantum-classical systems with holonomic constraints is formulated rigorously by unifying the classical Dirac bracket and the quantum-classical bracket in matrix form. The resulting Dirac quantum-classical theory, which conserves the holonomic constraints exactly, is then used to formulate time evolution and statistical mechanics. The correct momentum-jump approxima...

Dynamic response determination of viscoelastic annular plates using FSDT – perturbation approach

In this paper, the transient response of a viscoelastic annular plate which has time-dependent properties is determined mathematically under dynamic transverse load. The axisymmetric conditions are considered in the problem. The viscoelastic properties obey the standard linear solid model in shear and the bulk behavior in elastic. The equations of motion are extracted using Hamilton’s principle...
